We are pleased to announce our 1st Annual CASA Public Service Announcement Competition winners. The students from our Broadcast Journalism Club were provided sample topics in support of CASA’s mission and asked to produce 1-5-minute PSAs. Topics included reducing the illegal, underage use of alcohol, tobacco, prescription and other drugs; gambling; mental health; and social media to change/influence student behavior. Each submitted student PSA featured effective camera work, editing precision, use of lighting and sound, and an overall tone that reflected the message of the piece. Students spent several weeks developing their PSAs in school and at home, specifically for an audience of Grades 7-12 students. The end result were creative and novel PSAs that shared valuable messages on important student topics.
