Chocolate Works Positive Youth Activities Fundraiser for CASA & SCA
Local Plandome Road merchant Chocolate Works spearheaded a fundraiser over the month of December in support of Manhasset CASA and the SCA’s missions to further to promote positive youth activities in the arts and music! The appeal was linked to Manhasset’s Elementary and Middle School Holiday Concerts. Parents and students were invited to stop in after the concerts at Chocolate Works to enjoy ice cream, chocolate, and more while supporting Manhasset CASA & the SCA!

Monday, November 3rd at 3:30 p.m. at Manhasset High School, students (8-12) will have a unique opportunity to meet Miss Long Island 2014 Michelle Medoff and hear her story of how she lost her brother to heroin. Teens will learn about her journey to become an advocate for substance abuse prevention and how to stand up for what they believe in and advocate for the betterment of themselves, others and the community. NBA star Chris Herren joined Manhasset CASA's Town Hall Meeting
On Thursday March 27th at 7:30 p.m. at Manhasset High School, Chris Herren, having his first drink at age 14 – spoke openly about how he wished he were comfortable enough with himself in high school NOT to drink and to focus on other things. He lost it all to addiction: first alcohol, then cocaine, Oxycontin, and finally heroin. The evening is part of the Manhasset Secondary Schools’ Health and Wellness Week and is sponsored by the Manhasset Booster Club, Manhasset SCA and Manhasset CASA.Click Here for Flyer.

8th and 10th Grade Health Classes, along with students and teachers from across the United States, had the opportunity to ask questions of the Nation's top experts in the field of drug abuse and addiction during National Drug Facts CHAT Day.Thursday, January 30th at 7:30 p.m. in the Manhasset HS Auditorium
As seen on 20/20, Dateline, and Good Morning America, Dr. Stephen Dewey of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at North Shore LIJ, discussed the teen brain and spoke candidly about the health effects from youth exposure to alcohol, marijuana and drugs. The bilingual presentation was joined by over 125 parents and students who applauded Dewey's science based approach to educating teens on the amazing teen brain and how drugs and alcohol affect its development.
