A 30 second Public Service Announcement - familyday.org
Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your ChildrenTM was launched in 2001 by The National Center on Addiction and Substance
Abuse at Columbia University. Family Day is a national movement that
informs parents that the engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is
an effective tool to help keep America’s kids substance free. Dinner Makes A
Difference! CASA Columbia's The Importance of Family Dinners VII finds teens who have infrequent family dinner are more likely to smoke, drink, and/or use marijuana.
Manhasset Public Schools, Manhasset CASA & the Manhasset SCA are spreading the word about Family Day on Monday, September 26th! Parents with children in grades K-6 will receive a Family Day informational brochure in the student's backpack. The brochure, available in English and Spanish, provides essential information on the role communication plays in detering underage alcohol and drug abuse. To learn more about Family Day and to join parents all across America in taking the Family Day STAR pledge, go to www.manhassetcasa.org or www.CASAFamilyDay.org .
